WHO needs to know driving theory? ...YOU! If you want to be a safe driver, you need to know what's involved. The consequences of bad driving can be fatal, there are many laws and rules of driving that you should understand. All drivers, indeed all road-users, must abide by the same rules, otherwise there would be total chaos on the road. Make sure you know what you're doing, and lets hope other road users do the same.
A great deal of driving theory is simply common sense which you may know instinctively. However, before you can drive a car safely on the road, you MUST know and understand many other things like Safety Margins, Hazard Awareness, Vehicle Handling and the Rules of the Road.
Crashes and deaths on our roads are frequently caused by drivers ignoring the rules or failing to anticipate hazards. A sound knowledge of driving theory will help you and others survive to enjoy safe driving for life.
WHY do I need to know DRIVING THEORY? … not ONLY to pass your test but come on, surely it's better than becoming a road death statistic...
Passing the theory test is the first stage in becoming a safe driver. There's a lot to learn, so don't tackle it all at once. If you think you can learn everything the night before your theory test - you will fail for sure.
You probably know quite a lot of driving theory already, just by watching what happens on the roads and drawing your own sensible conclusions: a lot of the Theory Test questions simply require you to use your common sense.
However, there are a number of facts and figures you need to know, as well as the signs, road markings and so on. It can seem rather pointless trying to learn these if you have not yet started to drive, so for many people it works best if they begin studying for the Theory Test when they start driving lessons, not before.
Perhaps the best advice is to learn the theory in easy stages. Buy a copy of the Highway Code and read a bit at a time. When you're out on the roads - even as a pedestrian - make sure you know what all of the traffic signs and road markings mean. Any you don't know - LOOK THEM UP
